Brendon Burton, a photographer from Portland, has been undertaking a series of shots since 2011 entitled “Thin Places,” which documents solitary, dilapidated houses in the midst of barren fields, encroaching swamps, or at the edges of mountains. These abandoned structures have become Burton’s favorite subject, as he seeks out buildings throughout the continent that emit a sense of transience and alienation.
“This series is my response to a curiosity about the past and a desire to explore the isolated parts of North America. It mixes archaeology with fantasy”Brendon Burton
