For the occasion of a dedicated publication, the artist Amir Zaki has immortalized twelve skateparks scattered around California. Beautiful examples of curvilinear concrete “architectural objects”. It is gorgeous to look at them even when they are empty and reduced to their pure essentiality.
“Although these refined spaces are born out of conceptions of the various curvilinear shapes found in nature, they are frozen and ‘permanently’ cemented, recalling some of the most extreme examples of Brutalist architecture.”
