A school full of playgrounds

Efficiency Lab for Architecture, a multidisciplinary firm dedicated to understanding efficiency in the built environment, is pleased to announce the completion of the Primary School in Shenzhen, China. This project is part of the innovative Avenues Shenzhen master plan and represents the fifth collaboration between Efficiency Lab and Avenues: The World School association.

Located in the Tanglang Industrial Zone, the school is transforming former industrial warehouses into a modern urban campus with 21st century learning spaces. The design focuses on creating connections, both physical and visual, through a network of bridges, atriums, and interconnecting stairs. Outdoor learning spaces, gardens, and the integration of natural elements contribute to a biophilic environment. The Primary School features a rooftop playground, a climbing wall, and student commons on multiple floors, fostering social interactions and providing a welcoming atmosphere with natural materials.
